Boulder Whimsical Backyard Wedding | Kristen and Caleb

This Boulder whimsical backyard wedding was one of my favorites. There was intention and joy surrounding every aspect of planning and each moment of the big day. I just adore these two.

Kristen and Caleb met while attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. What started as a close friendship quickly became the solid foundation for their relationship. Throughout the time I’ve spent with them, I’ve learned that they are two of the most driven, caring and passionate people. Kristen runs marathons and is starting Nurse Practitioner School. While Caleb dabbles in Ironmans (casual) and just finished his second year of Med school. Although their list of accomplishments is very impressive, what’s even more inspiring is how intentional they are with all the people in their lives. Even though they had one of the largest wedding parties I’ve photographed, there was an overwhelming feeling of intentionality for all their people.

The Day:

The wedding was a bright summer day in Boulder, Colorado. The weather was warm, and the air had that sweet smell of fresh flowers in the summer. Having grown up in Boulder, Kristen and Caleb decided to be married at the same church Kristen’s parents were married in 30 years earlier. Ryssby Church is a beautiful stone church with Swedish heritage. It was so special to be able to re-create the same photos her parents took decades earlier. One of my favorite details of their day was Kristen’s dress. It was HANDMADE, yes folks, handmade by one of her friends. Finally, the reception, a white tent complete with twinkly lights and a dance floor was assembled in her back yard. Nestled in the hills with the Boulder Flatirons serving as the perfect backdrop, this celebration was a truly magical night.
