KATHRYN AND PHIL
I posted Kathryn and Phil’s Twin Lakes engagement session on last week and can’t wait to share their Grand Lake wedding with you today. Kathryn and Phil have the sweetest and most adventurous spirits. The kind of people that make everyone feel welcome and excited to be around them. They are true buddies and you can instantly tell they really love spending time with one another. I truly enjoyed every moment I got to spend with them and they were so fun to photograph. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better dance party than at their wedding.
THE DAY
Kathryn and and Phil’s Grand Lake wedding was on September 1st and the weather was a perfect, summer, mountain day. The sun shined bright over Grand Lake with a breeze that smelled fresh and crisp. A large log cabin was the venue. I wandered upstairs into a small room nestled in the back to find Kathryn and her best friends popping champagne and getting ready. Her mom helped her put her dress on and she added final details in a large floor length mirror. Phil was in another cabin with his friends. They drank cold beers and his best friend helped him put his suit on. They were both so relaxed and enjoyed all the time with their people.
The ceremony to their Grand Lake wedding had benches for 100 of their closest friends and family in front of Grand Lake with the mountains as the backdrop. It was simple and emphasized all of Colorado’s beauty. Their good friend officiated, Phil’s sister read a poem she wrote, and Kathryn and Phil laughed and cried and read vows to one another. It was personal, intimate and felt so genuine and true to their relationship. They kissed to seal the deal and were ready to celebrate!
The night was full of so much love, good food, drinks and dancing! Kathryn and Phil’s first dance was a mix of two versions of The Proclaimers – I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), one fast and one slow. It was AMAZING. Finally, the dance floor opened up and it was the best party. Everyone celebrated and you could feel all the love. The night ended with a silent disco and I officially think every night should end this way.
Kathryn, Phil, and their Grand Lake wedding was perfect and I feel so lucky to have photographed it! Here is the dream team that made this day possible.
